What is CranioSacral Therapy exactly?

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle hands-on method of enhancing the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, blood and lymph. It facilitates the body's natural ability to heal. Its positive effects are most apparent in the brain and spinal cord, the immune and hormonal systems and in the alleviation of chronic dysfunction and pain.

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a light-touch therapy technique that balances tension patterns in the body.  This can involve the fascia, an extensive network of connective tissue that weaves throughout the body, covers almost like a cheese cloth organs, muscle and separates different areas within the body, i.e. the different cavaties. It also covers all the nerves, the brain and spinal cord, blood vessels and bones.

Here is an example as in how important the understanding of the effects of fascia are: when a bed sheet is pulled on in one corner, we can see tension across the other side of the mattress. This example applies also to injuries, surgery, etc., due to adhesions and scars. This can impact tissue far removed from the original injury or surgical site. CST is a way to find and release this tension in the body.

CranioSacral Therapy helps integrating different therapy approaches and can be extremely helpful in conjunction with other therapies during a healing process.
